Roopa Ahluwalia

Partner, Head of Family, Cambridge

Why choose me

Working in family law means working with real people to help them achieve life-changing aims. Client care is at the heart of everything I do.

It is more than just knowing the law; it’s about using over 20 years’ experience to provide the best practical and tactical advice to each client.

Having acted for wealthy individuals, entrepreneurs, academics, and trustees on a variety of cases, clients can rely on me for realistic advice and no impossible promises. I stay by my client’s side, giving careful guidance towards a successful outcome.

My specialisms are varied and include divorce and dissolution of civil partnerships, financial settlements and negotiation, pre- and post-nuptial agreements. I also specialise in Children Act cases (including internal relocation), injunctions and collaborative law. I am also a qualified mediator.

I’m a tough negotiator and will aim to resolve your issues without the need for court, but if the need should arise then I will be by your side every step of the way.

Outside work, I am a keen traveller and love meeting new people. I am also learning to watercolour!

A professional empathetic service where we walk with you through your process and ensure the best possible outcomes for you and your family.

I will discuss your matter with you and provide you with a realistic estimate of costs from the outset.

The length of any matter can vary depending upon the issues and the intentions of all parties. It can also vary according to the dispute resolution method opted into e.g. mediation, arbitration, private hearings, court. Chambers and Partners – Roopa Ahluwalia

Roopa Ahluwalia, family law partner in our Cambridge office, and paralegal Ella Blake, recently assisted a client with a pre-nuptial agreement prior to his upcoming marriage.

Roopa was able to ensure that the agreement was drafted accurately for the client’s needs, while liaising with the client’s partner’s solicitors to achieve a result which best protected her client’s position.

She and Ella received the following thanks from their client: “I just want to say a very warm thank you for all the support and work during this time. You both made it easy and understandable, it’s an uneasy job to think about separation when we are excited about getting married.”
