The recent merger of HCR with the Warwickshire firm of Wright Hassall added new members to the HCR Construction Team. Partner Mike Hiscock and Associate Melissa Scott formerly with Wright Hassall have joined HCR’s Team:

Mike Hiscock is a construction and engineering procurement specialist advising contractors, designers, employers, occupiers and funders in a wide variety of sectors including social housing, health, education, sport and leisure, waste, logistics, manufacturing, local government and energy.

Melissa Scott acts for developers, employers, contractors, sub-contractors and consultants in both contentious and non-contentious construction matters, handling disputes through adjudication, court proceedings, arbitration and ADR.

Matt Bromilow joins as Partner

In addition, HCR has further strengthened its construction disputes capability with Matt Bromilow joining from global law firm Squire Patton Boggs as a partner in the HCR Birmingham office. Matt now leads the West Midlands disputes practice including Birmingham and Warwickshire.

Matt specialises in resolving highly technical and complex construction and engineering disputes, in various forums including adjudication, arbitration, and litigation. He is also known for providing project advisory services and for leading in mediations. Matt prides himself on providing efficient and cost-effective solutions for clients across the construction and engineering field and in many different sectors.

Matt’s background as a project manager for a Tier 1 sub-contractor provides him with unique, first-hand insight into onsite issues and the commercial impact of supply chain disputes on major construction projects.

The combined expertise positions HCR Law to serve clients across the full spectrum of construction and engineering legal needs, from procurement and project advisory work through to complex multi-party disputes.

These recent arrivals further strengthen HCR Law’s specialist team in national Construction and Engineering.

Head of the Construction and Engineering Team, Colin Jones said ‘We are delighted to be joined by some excellent new members of Team, to give us further capacity in our focus on Birmingham and the West Midlands in particular, but nationally too we can now better support our diverse portfolio of clients ranging from contractors, consultants, manufactures, funders, and our key sectors such as education, banking, insurance and insolvency.

Other members of the Team include Associate Sandra Piaskowksa who provides expertise in a range of dispute resolution processes, from strategic support during commercial negotiations through to representation in adjudication, mediation, arbitration and proceedings in the Technology and Construction Court.

Also, Associate Sardeep Gill brings expert transactional expertise to the practice giving direct support to his clients through diligently providing practical, cost effective and efficient commercial advice across a range of transactional matters.

Construction Conference

The Team is delighted to be putting on its annual Construction Conference to be held in Warwick. This has been a regular event previously organised by our colleagues who have joined us from Wright Hassall and will be a day of talks and presentations on construction law.
