Helen Barrett joins HCR Law

Helen Barrett has joined HCR Law’s Residential Property team in its new Shrewsbury office, bringing extensive rural expertise to enhance support for clients across the region.

With more than 25 years’ experience in property law, Helen specialises in residential and rural transactions across Shropshire, Mid Wales and neighbouring counties. Her experience in the region strengthens the team’s support for homeowners in the area.

Commenting on her appointment, Helen said: “Having lived on a smallholding in the Shropshire area for many years, I understand the practical realities of buying and selling in Shrewsbury and the rural communities, and the unique challenges the latter can present.

“I’m delighted to join HCR Law and work alongside colleagues in agricultural, commercial, planning, taxation and probate teams to ensure high-value residential and complex rural transactions benefit from specialist, joined-up advice. I’m looking forward to supporting clients across the region and contributing to the continued growth of our residential property offering.”

Lisa Gibbs, Partner and Joint Head of Residential Property at HCR Law, said: “Helen’s depth of experience in Shropshire adds real value to our residential property expertise as we continue to support clients across the Borders.”

Helen is the newest Partner based at the firm’s Shrewsbury office, which opened in January 2026 – a strategic move that strengthens HCR Law’s presence across England and Wales in response to client demand and brings the firm’s total to 13 offices nationwide.

Agriculture and Estates Partner Matt Hayes, who is leading the Shrewsbury office project, added: “We’re delighted to welcome Helen to our growing Shrewsbury team as we deepen our local connections and meet strong client demand in the region.”
