Court of Protection
The Court of Protection is a special Court which makes decisions on behalf of individuals who lack mental capacity to make decisions for themselves. It deals with decisions or actions taken under the Mental Capacity Act.
The Court of Protection helps people who do not have mental capacity to manage their own affairs. The Court can make decisions for people about their money, property, health or welfare, and can appoint someone else to make these decisions on an ongoing basis. This person is known as a deputy.
