HCR Law is pleased to have advised Stacatruc Limited on its acquisition of Northern Handling Systems Ltd, a materials handling specialist based in Stockton-on-Tees.

The deal marks the latest step in Stacatruc’s continued UK growth strategy, backed by investment from YFM Equity Partners, as the business expands its geographical reach and strengthens its materials handling capabilities across the country. Northern Handling Systems is an established provider of forklift trucks, sideloaders and associated support services to customers across the North East, and its acquisition brings valuable local knowledge and customer relationships into the growing Stacatruc network.

HCR acted for Stacatruc (the buyer) on all legal aspects of the transaction. The HCR deal team was led by Thames Valley, Corporate Partner, Nina Smith, and Solicitor Suzie Palmer, with support from Corporate Partner, Robert Rice and Banking and Finance Partner, Steven Geerlings.

Paul Vousden, CEO of Stacatruc, commented: “This acquisition is an important step in our plans to build a genuinely comprehensive, nationwide materials handling business. We needed a legal team that could move at pace and keep the deal on track, and HCR delivered exactly that. Nina, Suzie and the team were always available when we needed them, often at short notice and outside normal hours and their responsiveness and commercial awareness made the whole process considerably smoother. We wouldn’t hesitate to work with HCR again.”

Jon Aylett, Finance Director of Stacatruc, added: “From start to finish, HCR were a pleasure to work with. They were proactive, thorough and always on hand to answer our questions. Their ability to act swiftly and decisively at every stage of the transaction gave us real confidence that we were in safe hands. I would have no hesitation in recommending them.”

Nina Smith, Corporate Partner at HCR, said: “We were delighted to support Stacatruc and its management team on this acquisition, which represents another exciting milestone in the company’s growth journey. Stacatruc is an ambitious and fast-moving business backed by a strong private equity partner in YFM, and it was a privilege to be part of a deal that further strengthens their presence across the UK.”
