Speed and expertise with Section 106 agreements benefit local authorities

31 May 2018

Drafting and agreeing Section 106 agreements can be key to driving planning permissions forward and helping local authorities to keep up with demand for their services. Rosalind Andrews has been able to support several local councils in this way, making sure that all aspects of the agreement are covered.

She explained: “Planning authorities often have more work than they can do, and are under pressure to reduce delays in agreeing Section 106 agreements so that planning permission are granted promptly.

“We act on behalf of councils to draft and agree these in line with the planning officers’ requirements. It takes the pressure off the internal legal team at the council and is cost-neutral to the council because the planning applicant meets the council’s costs. It’s normally an advantage to applicants, as we can turn the agreements around faster, so their permission can be granted sooner.”

One local authority’s Head of Planning said: “Rosalind’s advice has been invaluable. Attention to detail is one of her key strengths and nothing is too much trouble. We receive an excellent level of service. HCR are quick to respond to queries and really drive the work forward to help us meet deadlines.”
