Key contact

Raj Pahuja

As a commercial lawyer with broad international and domestic experience in a variety of sectors, including sports and events, I take a great interest in advising on complex laws which govern businesses of all types. Businesses need the right support and advice, as commercial and corporate law applies in so many ways and in a variety of settings. From advising on sponsorship arrangements, event management, concessions, franchising, licensing and IT contracts on the commercial side and M&A, debt and equity.

International experience in the Gulf

Our international group brings together specialist experts from across the firm, ensuring the key contacts at HCR can help drive your matter forward.

Raj Pahuja qualified in New York in 2000 and England in 2002, and has significant experience in the Gulf Cooperation Council (“GCC”) countries, having lived and worked in both the UAE and Bahrain for over 12 years. A trusted advisor to international companies looking to enter the region, he has a broad client base.

Raj is also a key member of the firm’s Sports Law, Technology, and Media and Entertainment teams.

Adding value to your business in the GCC

From corporate and commercial matters to navigating complicated employment and immigration law, we provide a practical, commercial approach. There are some areas where our experience and connections enable us to provide additional value for our clients. This includes:

  • In-country investigations and due diligence
  • Negotiations with Gulf Cooperation Council and counter parties
  • Immigration – for businesses and individuals
  • Risk minimisation.

We have a substantial network in the GCC and the wider Arabian Gulf, calling on lawyers from different firms depending on the skillset our clients need, whether in corporate law, media law, employment law or other specialisms.

Hear what our clients say about us

HCR has become our go-to law firm for TV and media work. We recently needed a production arrangement with a multinational mass media and entertainment conglomerate. We had issues across the UK and EU; the arrangements are complicated but Nicolas Groffman and Raj Pahuja found ways to simplify the process and then isolate key issues for negotiation. Their technical knowledge and diligence enabled them to discuss practical issues with the television production teams on equal terms, which speeded up the project. They are brilliant.

Go-to law firm for TV and media work

The relationship with us goes back a long way, and the service HCR provides in the more ‘traditional’ areas such as employment and education remains first-rate. But what has been especially pleasing is the way that, as our ambitions and vision have broadened, so too has HCR’s ability to support us on our journey. Of course I’m thinking in particular about our international plans and discussions – it’s no exaggeration to say that we couldn’t have come as far as we have without your tremendous support, expertise and sage advice. Thanks.
