Nordics

Our extensive network of contacts in Stockholm, Copenhagen and Oslo allows us to reduce risk and ensure clients with business interests in the region are able to achieve their objectives. We go beyond mere legal advice, and use our good relationships with the UK embassies there, especially in Copenhagen.

Our work in the Nordics

We originally began working in Oslo and focused on finance in oil and shipping businesses. As a result have strong relationships both in the region and with Norwegian finance-related government entities such as ExportKredit.

Across HCR our lawyers work with Finnish firms, spend time in Helsinki building relationships with law firms and telcos based there and Harriet Murray Jones has built a wide practice across Scandinavia and the Nordic region. In 2018 we took the decision to centre our practice in Copenhagen, so that we were best able to service the needs of our clients, whose commercial activity is greatest in Denmark.

Recent work includes:

  • Helping clients navigate Norwegian employment law
  • Helping a UK bank with a guarantee from a Danish parent company and procuring the required legal opinion
  • Assisting a British chemical company sell part of its business to a Danish company when the sale was to be governed by Danish law
  • Engaging Finnish lawyers to advise on the purchase of the Helsinki-based subsidiary of a multinational clothing company.
